As the weather warms up, it's time to gear up for those gardens. Did you know Normal Public Library has a Seed Library? Tucked away by the CDs and end of the nonfiction collection is an old card catalog that serves as our Seed Library. Right now, there are seeds for peas, squash, and radishes, but it continues to change and expand as the year goes on. Borrowing seeds is totally free; just take what you like. There is room to leave seeds you won't be using as well.
If you're looking for more guidance, on Wednesday, May 3 from 6:30-7:30pm, we are hosting a Tomato Troubles event. Master Gardener Elaine Yoder will highlight basic pest management, common pests and diseases, and environmental or cultural issues you may encounter this season. It'll be a great chance to learn and connect with other local gardeners.
Don't quite have a green thumb? That's okay! We have something for everyone. Instead, make a DIY Fairy Garden, with some 3D printed accent pieces. There are two sessions for this activity, one May 15 at 6pm and the other May 16 at 10am. The sessions are identical, so please only sign up for one.
