An Inside Look, a collaboration between Normal Public Library and Heartland Theatre Company, returns to give a behind-the-scenes view of producing radio plays during a pandemic. View this event on YouTube.

Directors and sound designers for The War of the Worlds and The Gift of the Magi will tell us about their experiences.

Heartland Theatre has partnered with WGLT and WCBU to air these two productions.

More about each production:

Rhys Lovell directed The War of the Worlds, with sound designer Aaron Paolucci creating the audio. This production aired on October 30, just as the original Orson Welles production aired on October 30, 1938. The War of the Worlds radio play, by Howard E. Koch, is based on the science fiction novel by H. G. Wells.

Sandra Zielinski is directing the upcoming radio play The Gift of the Magi, adapted by Bob Cooner from the short story by O. Henry. Tony Reimer is the sound designer for this one. The Gift of the Magi, a holiday story, will air on WGLT and WCBU, on December 11 at 8 pm as part of the WGLT Presents series of cultural events on air.
