NPL will be closed Thursday, July 4 for the Independence Day holiday. Our Fell Avenue lot bookdrop and off-site bookdrops will remain available. We will reopen at 9 am on July 5.
For GivingTuesday 2019, Normal Public Library will inspire generosity by raising funds for a new Sensory App which will serve to benefit our community of library patrons.
For years, the Normal Public Library has been committed to serving all individuals in its community through its wide variety of helpful resources. This year’s campaign is dedicated to raising funds for a new Sensory App.
Created by Infiniteach and, available for both Apple and Android devices, it will help to foster a safer and more welcoming environment for library patrons living with autism and their families. Sensory NPL will feature customizable visual schedules, text and video social narratives, tap-to-talk communication charts, maps, tips, and more.
“The Sensory NPL App will assist individuals and their families in preparing for and enjoying a visit to the Normal Public Library in an inclusive and personalized way! The addition of this app to the programs and services already offered will take us to the next level in providing a welcoming, inclusive environment for all,” said Children's Services Director Tori Melican.
The Normal Public Library’s goal is to raise $5,000 for the Sensory App campaign this year.
